Spekulative Design:

The importance of the visionary scenarios in the Startup development

The vision is of decisive importance in developing and optimizing business strategies and creating new business models. The early identification of relevant trends and their impact on the business environment, society, politics and the economy play a crucial role in the creation of a vision.
The visionary concepts and the future scenarios help the technology-driven start-ups in the ideas stage to develop a future-proof strategy and product portfolio. These scenarios are based on extensive environment, user and market research Considering current market and technology trends.

Project description:

Munich-based startup FLUICS was born out of an idea by two scientists, who laid their focus on the automation of the general pipetting process. Over time they change its focus to the specific field of histopathology (There was already a cooperation with this startup during the studies).

Objective:

A structured approach to building innovation around the user experience in the research labs.

Investigation:

Digitization and networked systems change the work environment of scientists in the research laboratories. In the laboratory, along with analogue experiments, vast amounts of digitalized data are being generated from various sources and there is hardly an automatic link between these data - two separate worlds. In this project, a practical design research shows improvement potentials in this issue.

Design process

Concept:

User centered design, Speculative mindset, methodological design research and visionary future scenarios are the cornerstones of this project. The extensive methodological environment, user and trend research help to recognizes things in their context and to come to meaningful conclusions from that. The illustrated future scenarios visualize the possible impact of technology trends on the context of laboratory and make it tangible for the development team.
